Senior Civil Engineer (Ref: JMS013)

Position

Experienced Civil Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in roads and drainage infrastructure design with the opportunity to work on a range of project types including commercial, industrial and residential schemes.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Be able to attend site/design team meetings and work as part of a wider professional team providing input and advice to Clients and Architects
  • Design commercial, residential and infrastructure schemes
  • Review, check and approve designs prepared by others
  • Manage and monitor successful delivery of project technical/quality reviews of specifications, reports and drawings
  • Monitor and ensure that the project stays within budget
  • Liaise with consultants, clients, colleagues and contractors to keep updated on progress
  • Prepare FRAs, pre-planning advice, feasibility studies and documentation to support planning applications
  • Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections of sites
  • Ensure the implementation and continuous management of JMS Company policies on all projects undertaken
  • Identify and communicate back to the team any opportunities for further work and new commissions

Expected Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in civil engineering or be able to demonstrate comparable technical knowledge and work experience of Civil Engineering schemes of varying size and complexity
  • A broad knowledge of Civil engineering design and construction practices, with the ability to develop and apply innovative solutions to problems
  • Ability to adapt to different management styles and working environments to build rapport with clients
  • Have good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage your workload
  • Have experience of using industry standard software including Microdrainage, PDS, Civil 3D and AutoCAD
  • Be familiar of the various Adopting Authority Section Agreements and the works associated with them
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK to visit sites and other JMS offices
  • Experience of health and safety requirements and undertaking construction works in accordance with British standards and regulations

You will be supported to progress your professional qualification with the ICE.
