The transformation of St Mary’s Lodge involves restoring the fire-damaged mansion and constructing a new four-storey school.

Basement, frame and facade

JMS Engineers facilitated the building repairs, designed a new basement, and integrated a steel frame to support reconstructed floors and facades. The school features a steel-framed structure with concrete composite floors, reinforced concrete slabs for ground and basement levels, and piled foundations. Its stone facade is affixed to a galvanised steel frame, blending historical and modern elements.

Outcome

Civil design and runoff control

JMS Civils incorporated green roofs and permeable surfacing to slow rainwater runoff and reduce pressure on the public sewer network. This project exemplifies the synergy between historical preservation and modern innovation, becoming a hub for education and community enrichment.
