JMS completed the basement alterations for the Shaftesbury Theatre, a Grade II listed theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End. The project is part of the extension to the basement of the theatre, which will help to create a grander, more flexible hospitality area and improve audience circulation throughout the front of house.

JMS completed the basement alterations for the Shaftesbury Theatre, a Grade II listed theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End. Existing and new structure

JMS conducted a comprehensive structural analysis to ensure that the existing theatre building and the new basement extension would be structurally sound and compatible with one another.

Basement beneath theatre and pavement

The Shaftesbury Theatre project involved designing and constructing a large basement extension both beneath the existing structure and projecting out under the pavement to Shaftesbury Avenue and High Holborn, and connecting back to the theatre.
