Work is progressing rapidly on a major residential project in Swindon. Located directly opposite Swindon train station, this five-storey development will deliver 89 new apartments, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of the town centre.
JMS Engineers has been appointed to provide the full structural and civil engineering design, ensuring a buildable, compliant and efficient scheme from the outset.
Engineering from the Ground Up
With scaffolding and strip-out works nearing completion, construction has moved into the partition fit-out stage. JMS’s structural design utilises the existing concrete frame while ensuring modern standards of fire protection, sound insulation and energy performance. Close coordination between the civil and structural teams has been key to optimising load paths, service routes and overall construction efficiency.
Civil Engineering Design
Our civil engineering design includes below-ground drainage, foundation coordination and site levels. Working within tight urban constraints, JMS has delivered drainage solutions that meet Part H and SuDS compliance, ensuring effective and sustainable water management. The inclusion of a basement level required careful consideration of waterproofing, retaining structures and service penetrations to maintain structural integrity and durability.
Safe, Sustainable and Buildable
Safety and longevity have guided every design decision. Specified, were Hensel Hensotherm fire protection coatings to existing concrete slabs and developed fire-rated wall assemblies achieving FR 60-minute resistance. These measures ensure full regulatory compliance and long-term safety for residents.
