JMS Engineering deploy structural auditing survey division for UK businesses
March 25, 2020 NewsUnplanned downtime is amongst one of the biggest fears for any business, particularly in the manufacturing and supply industries, where a halt in production can be disastrous. One of the major causes of unplanned downtime can be structural failure, which aside from putting staff in danger, can lead to missed deadlines, vast repair bills, and a damaged reputation.
To assist in this, JMS has combined its wealth of industry experience with the launch of JMS Engineering’s Structural Audit Survey division, so that UK businesses now have a defence against this kind of catastrophe.
“It’s no coincidence that our Structural Auditing Survey team is known as the S.A.S.,” explains JMS senior auditing coordinator Jo Kingshott. “Our crack team of experienced engineers work with organisations of all kinds, to ensure their plant and buildings are structurally safe. And when we identify problems, our bespoke software means our report, with photographic evidence, and practical guidance for remedial action, is in our client’s hand the same day. It’s about preventative maintenance and swift solutions, rather than costly post-failure repair.”
Jo’s S.A.S. team operate throughout the UK, and support some of the largest companies in the world, such as leading aggregate supplier, Hanson.
Proactive response
“The best time to identify a structural issue is before it occurs,” Jo tells us from the JMS SAS head office in Suffolk. “Before it becomes serious, and before production comes grinding to a halt. Our Engineers work with our clients to perform prearranged audits to sites and facilities, arranged in advance to fit into their planned maintenance schedules.”
The S.A.S. team focus on their customer’s needs, by taking into account specific site requirements. For example, if a facility is near the coast, or there are corrosive materials being used on site, then more regular and specific audits are carried out.
“Whether a client needs two visits a year from our Engineers, or one every three years, we will slot into their production and maintenance schedule, organise the timing from our end, and most importantly, make the process non-disruptive to our client’s daily business.”
Peace of mind
The JMS S.A.S. team use specialist software to generate a report instantaneously on the day the audit takes place. This gives clients immediate notification of any issues uncovered, alongside photographic evidence, so that any potential structural issues can be logged, and plans can be made to put things right before a catastrophic and costly failure can take place.
“Our team are methodical and thorough, and if we spot any potential issues, we prioritise them in the instant report. It’s all about ensuring the safety of site personnel, and safeguarding the investment an organisation has made in their plants and buildings,” says Jo.
Immediate action
And if a structural issue does occur between audits, clients can request an emergency call out which will instigate a priority response from JMS.
“With offices throughout the UK , we have the capability to dispatch engineers to any site or facility in the UK at short notice. If a client encounters a structural incident between audits, we can soon be on site to assess structural integrity, put minds at rest, or if required, address the problems, and help formulate a plan to move forward with minimum disruption and downtime.”
Just like the SAS, we will be in and out before you know it!
