Shaftesbury Theatre, London

A contemporary addition and alterations to the Grade II listed theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End.

Phase 3 of the extension to the flytower, creates additional height and loading capacity as well as office space to accommodate increasing demands of theatre productions. JMS worked in collaboration with Michael Jackson Consulting to design the new cantilevered steel truss framework which spans between four girder columns installed up through the envelope of the existing structure. Sequencing and communication were essential in delivering to a tight project timetable. The corrugated façade is clad in cor-ten steel panels.
