The Forge Care Centre for Children

The Forge Care Centre for Children, is a brand-new therapeutic community centre for children. Purpose-designed with a focus on quality spaces, materials and design principles.

Although the Forge’s Nuneaton site was greenfield, there were significant issues with coal seams and made ground. This called for specialist foundation design to overcome the difficult ground conditions whilst the superstructures were SIPs to allow a quick offsite method of construction.

The four stand-alone residential care buildings are constructed from SIPS then clad in timber and zinc are nestled within a beautiful landscaped garden setting, and seek to provide a safe, nurturing & creative environment for the children.

Now finished, The Forge will provide short-term residential care & recovery for children with emotional & behavioural disorders or early childhood trauma.  The project has created big play spaces, art, quiet, sensory and nature areas, this is a nurturing environment where children can explore and develop their own interests and hobbies.
